I disagree on you about the DAC

Here I am going to take issue with you. I don't agree that it is poor engineering. A strange engineering choice maybe, but not poor at all. Audio Note chose to leave the filter out. They used to make DACs with filters in (IIRC), so the absence of one is not due to a lack of engineering competence. As one poster mentioned SETs measure terribly ITO normal engineering standards, but they sound good (some of them do anyway). Once again it may be an engineering choice which may be strange to some, but it is made for specific reasons. IOW what I am saying is that to call it 'poor engineering by any definition of the word' is totally incorrect. If you called it a strange engineering decision, or something of that ilk, I would have agreed with you.
