Fetishistic science

Science is a wonderful, indispensible discipline for sure, but there are scientists and blind rationalists in the world who have an essentially fetishistic, idolatrous view of science. They believe that science affords humanity the only form of knowledge that has any substance or significance. They have elevated it to a form of epistemological godhead that defies the complementary and elusive logics of perception and understanding. For science to be a perfect and sufficient means to understand (and to *act*) then the human brain would have to have achieved a kind of mechanistic perfection of complete reliability and consistent clarity. Does ANYONE believe that has happened?

The complexity of human psychology and the apprehension of reality is infinitely more complex than science has been able to model. Music is, to me, an astonishing way that humankind has evolved to touch the untouchable and reach the unknowable. By its very nature its cause and effect is beyond science. The equipment we use to make these sounds audible is subject to the same inherent limitations as anything that it human-created. How can an electronic device be "perfect" if there is no perfection in human beings?

Before anyone dismisses my comments by labeling me a misguided mystic, I should add that like many good scientists I'm a confirmed athiest. I just happen to believe that reality is so complex that science won't ever be able to fully deconstruct it. Certainly not for many, many lifetimes, if ever.
