Just purchased the ECI3 integrated to go along with a newly purchased Audio Valve RKV headphone amp. One unanticipated problem has immediately come up. The RKV is connected to the tape outputs of the ECI3. This is how I have always connected headphone amps & integrateds in the past. When listening to phones I would simply mute the integrated. However, the ECI3 is quirky in that muting the unit effectively shuts it off leaving me with nill. Even turning the volume all the way down on the ECI3 is ineffective since there is still sound coming from the speakers. I obviously listen with phones in instances (quite often) where I wish to have private listening while not disturbing others. Furthermore why run the amp & speakers when not necessary? Anyone have any ideas how I might be able to use these two components in the manner I originally intended?
