Re: This Old House's wiring - Is high performance possible?

My house was built in the 1950s, and the problems I've had were due to bad connections in the outlets, light fixtures, and circuit breakers.

Replacing bad outlets is easy. I've had outlets so loose that plugs just fall out. These should be replaced for safety, since an outlet that's not making good contact with the plug can get very hot.

Other than the connection points, not much tends to go wrong with wiring in the walls. You can probably leave the wiring alone if your equipment is not drawing too much current.
