...other than by Peter Aczel, who rated the Pre-1 first place in his big preamp shootout in issue #1 of TAC, he was unknown and unsung.
I recall TAS reviewing the Pre-1 later and saying it was not that good and had an upper midrange glare.
The guy I bought mine from decided he liked the Levinson JC-2 (#2 or #3 in Aczel's survey) better.
So I guess that's pretty impressive for a new designer, but the what happened to him after that?
