Carver M-500t amp

I have a couple of these amps running my audio/video system. I like the way they sound, although I never really listened to other amps (besides an Audio Research tube amp which was extrememly wonderful - and expensive).

I am thinking of upgrading, since my amps are almost 15 years old. But I do not want to spend a down payment for a house on a good amp. I am also a big fan of bi-amping, so I have an amp per channel right now (5 of them). Using a Y-connection I am able to use an amp per side, yet not bridging the amp using each channel on the amp, one for low and one for high, on my speakers. Make sense? Well, I would like to retain this if I can.

I wonder if it is worth upgrading to another brand of amp, or keeping my Carvers. If it is worth upgrading, and recommendations for a fantastic sounding amp under $1000.00? Maybe even under $2000.00?

Thanks,

RLM
