Albeit on the cheap. One of my uncles was a distributor for several hi-fi brands including Shure, Garrard, Miracord, quite a few others.
But the real epiphany was a visit to the old Opus One audio store in Pittsburgh. Friend of mine insisted I go, they had Magneplanars (probably Tympanis), don't know what amplification was in use, Transcriptors Saturn TT with Vestigal arm, playing the third Sheffield release (with "America" from West Side Story on it).
Until that day, I had no idea that a stereo could sound that good.
The blissful counterstroke-a considerable new message.
