I pulled the Tannoys into room almost 4 feet from the front wall.
The stats are slightly more than 8 feet out. One of my mentors was big on using the "Rule of Thirds" for placement and indeed they not only measure smoother in the Schroeder frequencies , but create quite an illusion of space in the room that way. I find achieving neutral response in this region essential.
The driver blending challenge with the Thiels mentioned by Lummy are non-existent. They sound the same up close, at a distance, sitting, standing or from behind.
