So you cannot assess whether the equipment and room and seating ... does its job correctly.
With simply recorded acoustic music you are a lot closer to that ideal.
I used to have a part-time business setting up systems in homes, and I always used simple-stereo acoustic recordings to assess, and to demonstrate before and after.
Where the client's budget allowed we did room treatments, mostly diffusion, as this can have a higher SAF, given the results.
I never had a complaint, and I did get referrals. I still do.
