I have the Crown XLS 2002

...which I use for subwoofer duty, where it excels.

The review you linked to was very good, but one thing he didn't mention was "break in". I tried my XLS on my full range driver speakers shortly after I got it, and in a word, it was awful. To expand on that, the top was bright, and the midrange harsh. Note that this was with a full-range, single driver (Horn Shoppe Horn) which if anything, could be accused of being rolled off on top, rather than anything approaching bright.

As you'll see in the link below, Inmate Cougar said his 1502 XLS smoothed out after around 100 hours. Perhaps, to be fair, I should try my XLS 2002 as a full range amp again, but there would have to be a significant transformation for me to say anything positive about it over around 100 Hz. In fact, that sounds like an interesting little experiment to do today. I'll report my findings.
