its a crapshoot. an amp with an even # of gain stages doesnt invert, one with an odd # inverts.
recordings are also a crapshoot, though MOST engineers try for an in phase recording, a good many arent. even form stage to stage, it can vary in a recording.
on one of the early dtd sheffield LPs, there are instructions about one side being out of absolute phase and to reverse the speaker leads on both spks to correct for it.
i never thought it made much diff bukt once i was auditioning an adcom cdp and reversed the phase. DEFINITELY audible! one way sounds more correct.
