I totally agree.... This is a common flaw, often exaggerated upper bass/lower midrange to offset tendencies toward “brightness”.... Often caused or exacerbated by poor room acoustics, speaker cabinet resonances, “bloomy” tubes/tube gear, etc. .... (Some tube amps tend to do this when warmed up. I generally don’t like amps that do this.) A system with good linear response and flat frequency response rarely makes things sound noticeably “bigger” or “smaller” than what’s heard live. Especially with non-amplified music. Even with larger speakers/setups.
I’ve known a lot of people who like this type of presentation. But not for me.![]()
