We both attend concerts together and would listen to live acoustic music at least three times a month. She loves real / simple stereo recordings as much as I do.
While we were still engaged late 1970s she came to the conclusion that purchasing a Denon MC was a good idea for our system. We were at a friend's place.
That setup? Thorens TD125, Stax arm, a 103S in one shell versus a Garrotted Shure V15III seeing 47k and 450pf total - both set-up by me (and the 125) a valve pre??? and Leach MC pre-pre for the Denon.
Leach Class-A power amps (60WPC?) DIY'd here for the baby Wide-Range spheres (Rb at ~90 Hz) running Coral Flat 5s and a Fostex ribbon above 12k. L for LP and a styro-seal cap and padding R for Hp to the ribbon.
Stereo subs? off a Crown DC300 for oversized Rb enclosures tuned to Fs and over-damped - Dynaudio 13" Rb drivers. DIY 4th order LP and ELF HP to match the sphere's 90hz tuning, plus a 1st order Passive Line filter (80Hz?) into the Leach amps to kill ELF cone-bounce on the spheres. Effective HP in-room on the spheres being 5th order.
We were listening to 'The Koln Concert' and it was very, very good.
On the way home she said 'You must get a moving coil!'
She doesn't like it quite as loud as I do, sometimes.
