I do agree with you on the underdamped woofers.
Percusion and plucked bass are very realistic indeed on my system, I am running large ss-powered actives with plenty of headroom (> 900w per side). Also there is very little energy storage with active xovers, the removal of the obligatory series inductor as used in passive xover was a real eye (ear) opener!
