What makes you state that? Whether woofers, midranges and tweeters are wired in-phase or out relative to each other depends on the crossover design. Some speakers use 1st order, others 2nd and so on up the ladder. The drivers are wired in or out of phase in a manner that gives the smoothest response in the crossover range. Things have been this way in speaker design for many years.
What is unsubstantiated about that?
