I think you're being a bit oversensitive in this case. Tony makes good points and they were not presented in a way that I took as a personal attack on your competency.
Just to take speakers, there are some very highly regarded speakers on the market that, due to their crossovers or other aspects of design, may mask detection of polarity issues.
One also has to consider that the ability to detect polarity may simply be an accident of genetics or early experiences. There are plenty of non-audio examples in the world of food tasting, for example, that illustrate this.
I care little about polarity and the few times I believe I've heard a difference have meant nothing toward my ability to enjoy music. The whole subject is a non-issue for me.
