Re: soundstage

Recordings vary greatly. Better gear can/will definitely make a bigger soundstage. But the best gear won't make a poor recording sound good or its soundstage big if it wasn't properly recorded. I have the Chesky Discs, the Sheffield too that the other reply refers to. I have another Chesky disc where they move the mic away from a drum kit. It starts at 5 feet and ends at 100 or something....as much as Chesky tries to help you with these discs they still don't use the best techniques to get a big soundstage in their recordings. Fidelity is always better than soundstage in their discs IMO.
