For what it's worth, Gordon Holt doesn't like the sound of many home speakers and much prefers the balance of many studio monitors. In fact his home system is a set of ATC 50 powered monitors and he thinks they are the best thing(defined as making his master tapes he made of the Boulder Symphony sound closest to the live performance) he's ever experienced.
