All that is needed is a good group of talent who can do the song in one take with a good microphone and some modest tube gear. Acoustics are a helluva lot more important than a stupid wire. You guys could have bought modestly priced wire and donated the rest of the money saved to a school arts department. Wire is not going to make the recording any better. A good mic and a good room is all you need. You can't compensate for raw talent. Even today I am sure if John Coltrane recorded a joke with a pro-tools console that the sound would still be unheard of. There are so many stupid production industry folks but what the hell do they know about sound? Have you heard the old blues records, not much technology but still warm and fat sound. Why do the goddamn recording engineers of today waste so much on technology when it sould be spent on a raw talent. A two channel two track ree-reel can sound spectacular. Add tubes and good mics, that is all you need.
