Actually, I heard a live ensemble playing in a nearby hardware store today: I did not get this kind of a treatment as a kid!Lots of other reasons why today's audio scene maybe isn't what you want it to be, like people spending more free time in their cars and less at home than in the past. Or changing jobs more often and hence, not feeling as settled in one location. If you think about it, wifi, notebook computers, iPod, cell phones and car video systems are all part of a rootless lifestyle, easily carried across the country when you get transferred.
