Over the past decade, I've thought that the digitization of music alters how listeners perceive the performance (not just the sound quality of the recording), and this may have then altered what the people at large wanted in their music. Artists also adjusted for what the public wanted.And once everything hit equilibrium, people have no longer cared about the finer points of music, which often accompanies the desire for superior playback fidelity.
