Amdan,The good sound comes from the combination of the room and accepting that it would take a lot of work and money to get similar sound at high volume. I set up the speakers and found the bass bump using an analog Radio Shack dB meter and a test CD from Rives audio. Using the nearfield setup I avoid most room related problems. The ceiling is very high and the first reflection points to the sides are such that the signal has to travel over 20 feet from speaker to wall to listener. With the listener only 7 feet from the direct path to the source there is not much coming from the first reflection point at lower volumes. The back wall is 15 feet behind me and it does not echo at lower volumes. With all of the different angles in the room and ceiling things get odd, sound develops hot spots, etc. when the volume is high enough to get slap echo at all of these angles. My main reaction from the room is from the floor. I need to get a thicker carpet/pad combo to get that one down.
