On a whim I purchased an oyaide outlet and a BPT PPC w/ the same outlets. The very first thing i noticed was that my Thiels made music outside the boundaries of the speakers. I'd always had a solid center image, but with the beefed up (and clean) power supply, the speakers disappear much, much more than before. Room acoustics play a huge part too i'm sure. My speakers are positioned at 45 degree angle to the walls, makes a huge diff as well. I have only mid-fi equipment...a huge soundstage is not only for those with big $ systems, but it helps i'm sure. Often, difft recordings play a role as others have mentioned. I'm not a dealer, don't rep for any products...just a happy customer. Now, if you want an insane 3-D soundstage experience, check out Jon Van L Speakerworks in chicago...he makes downright holographic systems that baffle me to say the least.
