My room is terrible for this, but it will do the trick on a particular cut of Herbie Hancock - Dis is da Drum (the song is "Butterfly 95") and there is a synth door slam that "appears" almost directly to the right of your head in this cut.Pretty wild!
There are other intentional synth flavored phasing/panning tricks on the CD too but unfortunately my room does not allow proper setup to maximize the occurance of the other "staging tricks" that might be employed.
