B&W n805's. Absolutely loved the looks and the smooth razor-sharp sound. However, I missed real bass and the cost to get it from B&W's larger speakers (802's) was prohibitive. My girlfriend still misses em', but I got sick of the fatigue, the smallish soundstage, and as I said before the lack of low bass in our 28.3 x 12.5 room with vaulted ceilings (I love classical music). They were always smooth to a fault, pretentious, fussy to setup right, but were also low in distortion and very transparent. They were also our very first experience into high-end brands and dealerships from which we learned much and overall had a very positive experience. For instance, we learned that we would rather have something with better and more uniform dispersion and full range, that speaker setup and positioning is of paramount importance, and that component matching while important is secondary to the considerations above. I do not think we would be enjoying our system nearly as much without this first experience. As an aside, I was turned on to Stereophile from the review of the 805's and have faithfully subscribed since.
