Every once in awhile I get to figuring that SS amps have reached a point where they can deliver satisfaction equal to (or better than) that of tube amps. And all that abundant bass I read about…I just gotta check it out.And check it out I do. Most recently, I acquired a monoblock pair of Bel Canto EVO 2s, which were touted (but writers I respect) as being "SET-like." And they are wonderful SS amps (albeit of the digital-switching variety). But, sure enough, after a period of months, admiration failed to turn into love, so away they went.
So, though I am frequently seduced by the impressive atrributes of ss, it's a dalliance that never lasts. I keep returning to my original, and best, love, which never loset heir golden glow.
