Test it with cd or lps you think are good but also some that seemed bad with your present equipment. If they too sound good then the upgrade is and upgrade indeed! Very good cd playback shows each disk as it is. Many previous disks concidered good may be exposed as less than you thought. Try an Audio Note DAC5 and it ruthlessly dissects recordings to show if they contain any music! The synergy of a system may be upset by better equipment showing up components that are not quite what they seem. This may give a false impression of the new equipment. A wide ranging selection of softwear is needed to check out any new component not just a favorite few.
