As an engineer, this is always my argument for NOT tailoring the recording to a specific system (but to the Music instead).You can always tell a great recording is a great recording, even on a car system. I believe this is because the quality of recordings varies more than the quality of any other "link" in the audio chain. Put another way, often it is the recording that sets the ultimate Quality ceiling. Yes a good system makes most recordings sound more palatable but greatness cannot be achieved without a great source.
