Hello -Thanks for your interest in our "IBE" system enhancement disc. Obviously there is nothing required (except death and taxes), but it does help your system to sound better if you play the sweep tone periodically. Depending on the system (some components seem to need the sweep more than others) and my mood, I usually play the sweep tone between once a day and once a week. You have your choice of a full 5-minute sweep or a quick 1-minute sweep.
The other tracks on the disc are for more specialized purposes. For instance, the "brown noise" track set to "repeat" is excellent for breaking in loudspeakers.
As near as we can tell, there does seem to be something related to magnetism in the cause and effect of the sweep tone on this disc, although I can't give a detailed explanation of the mechanism. For instance, one time we were doing listening tests to film capacitors (used as DC supply bypasses). We alway play the sweep track after making modifications, as it "settles down" the system after disruptions. One of the capacitors had copperweld leads (copper-clad steel). The sonic change after playing the sweep with those capacitors was extremely pronounced. We also found that the system with the steel-leaded capacitors would revert to the "pre-sweep" sound within a few hours, and again have a profound sonic change after playing the sweep tone.
So far, everyone who has tried it has liked it.
