Possibly I hallucinate, but it seems to me that cymbals tend to sound better on vinyl - including (or perhaps especially) from around 1960 (Riverside, Blue Note jazz are especially good). On cds they do more often sound like white noise. If I could what is missing into workds, I would say what is missing is the 'ringing' sound (of only better quality cymbals do this in the first place, as you drummers know).
