RE: Audiophile (audiophool?) fuses

I have read some stories about fuses on several forums and how some claim these giant leaps in SQ beyond belief. Yet never any stats or proof of differences other than subjective listening.
Some fuses go for $2800 ? How do people know they will even pop when necessary ? That the ratings are accurate and meet the specs of the device being protected ?
It seems that equipment costing tens of thousands of dollars would already utilize these fuses or other methods to get the most SQ possible ...-.
Call me skeptical.. I know everything matters in the audio chain.. but some of this stuff is ridiculous
