once they have a speaker that uses DSP, I suppose?
Or maybe not.
My horns could certainly benefit from DSP, as most horns can. One of the VERY best horn systems I've had the pleasure to experience used DSP for phase, time alignment and x-over, DEQX if I recall correctly.
Sadly, DEQX no longer produces digital crossovers due to supply chain issues in their native Australia.
As digital becomes easier to develop and manage, I'm sure others of equal quality will emerge, and at lower prices.
Behringer has a couple models that might fill the bill for not a lot of money but I'm using an analog active crossover at the moment and have no huge phase of timing issues that need addressing.
If I DID go with digital DSP/Phase/timing/etc., I'm not sure I'd go so far as to say it's the ONLY solution for speaker design because I've heard WAY too many systems which do VERY well without it.
First they came for the dumb-asses
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a dumb-ass
