Appeal to authority Alert!!

If people could win arguments according to their credentials anyone who has a PhD would win in a heartbeat, especially if their PhD was in a "relevant field." But the reason credentials or degree can't win every audio argument, even if the degree is audio science or EE, is because much of what we argue about in audio are not traceable back to books or classes on technical subjects, which tend to be theoretical and broad in scope. And besides PhD often disagree about any subject.

So stating that you are someone else has some fancy degree or even a PhD is not proof that the argument you or he is making is correct. It's actually just name dropping. Credentials and degrees and even work experience might be of some help, maybe yes maybe no, but they are not proof of anything. That's an Appeal to Authority, also known as Appeal to Credentials.
