RE: I most definitely changed my perspective

You didn't answer the question what do you thinkI think double blind tests are.

"If the word "sighted" is brought up in a "DBT" discussion, it's wrong....."

Not necesarily. It is a common short cut for refering to the listeners knowing what is what during a listening test. The issue is *knowing* not literal seeing. If you thought that was what I meant by "sighted" that was your misunderstanding of common terminology in audio as it pertains to blind listening tests.

"Real DBTs, the "double blind" implies that neither the individual conducting the test nor the individual evaluating the product know whether the test item or a placebo is being evaluated."

Not quite. It doesn't imply anything. It quite literally means that neither the testor or the testee knows the identy of the items being tested. There is no placebo in a double blind audio test nor is a placebo effect the same as bias effects. Two different things in play. You really should watch that video I posted. It does explain all of this and much more

"(The "double" implies two people, the individual conducting the test shouldn't know either, because "bias" can affect how the product or placebo is being administered, which in itself can "skew" results.)"

Again it is not an implication. It is a condition that has to be in place for the test to be double blind.

"But the product could be very visible (which is why "sighted" is irrelevant in real DBT)..... Whether it's an audio component, consumer product, or medical device......"

Well, t hat much you did get right

So the question stands. Why do so many alleged night and day differences become undetectable in double blind listening tests? What is the better explination for it than bias effects, feed back loops and the nature of how we process and rmember sound?

do yourself a favor and watch the video before responding
