Yeah, but the blues would NEVER have become so popular with young white fans . . .

. . . if it hadn't been championed and promoted in the mid-1960s by young white (and mostly Brit) musicians like Mayall, the Stones, Cream, Fleetwood Mac, Zep, etc. The middle-aged Chicago masters at the time were faced with an aging, dwindling Black audience when they found their careers rebooted by a whole new demographic of fans. Muddy Waters once said: "Those hippies were hungry for new sounds, and God bless 'em, they dug our OLD sound."
