RE: A filthy racist, and unrepentant. Ironically, he made his bones

As a matter of fact, I attended a blues festival in which guitarist Junior Watson told attendees to stop listening to SRV because all SRV did was copy older blues musicians - as I recall he used the words "not original." I think the comment flew over the heads of the audience. Perhaps it was the alcohol.

As I stated elsewhere, Clapton made a comment on stage in 1976 which he should not have made. Should that comment define his life? Should one statement or act define your life? He's apologized.

I'm not aware that Clapton, as opposed to Page, lifted licks, or is accused of doing so. Consequently, this ultimately boils down to Clapton playing blues tunes, and earning more than his black blues musician counterparts. To that extent, SRV, White, Ford, and Gibbons are guilty as well. At least Clapton did record with BB King, which ultimately became BB King's highest charting album, so my guess is that King was likely happy with Clapton. I could be corrected, but I don't recall the other examples using their sales power to directly benefit another blues musician.
