Main line thinking is the comfortable narrative that is provided and supported by the majority of main stream news sources. Perhaps you have noticed that they are extremely consistent on their position on virtually all topics - avoids any potential 'confusion' among their viewers. Fortunately here on Audio Asylum, things like whether cables matter or not are actively and openly discussed, rather than 'no they don't matter' and 'you better not raise that misinformation again'.
Getting data to make an informed decision often requires moving out of your comfort zone and relying on common sense and logic. Sometimes even using sources called out by WikiPedia (Google) as right wing propaganda sites - they clearly don't follow the correct narrative. A thinking person can detect potentially meaningful results from pure BS.
A fun demonstration is to do a search on both Google and DuckDuckGo on 'big mike obama'. The results are amusing, but more importantly why are so many results appearing on DuckDuckGo suppressed on Google. If someone did the search, then give them the unvarnished information they asked for. Why would anyone that wants comprehensive information to make a decision use Google?
In an earlier reply you said Clapton was not lying, but was just wrong. Apparently there is little argument that he had a negative reaction from the inoculation that was highly problematic. He wasn't wrong, but went against the current narrative and publicly provided his actual personal experience. Apparently offensive and unsettling behavior to some. Far easier for Clapton to remain silent and follow the main line narrative, but then that was opposite to his personal experience and he stepped up.
About as far as I am willing to go on the political and moral side of things. Back to music and stereo equipment for me....
