Thank God. Finally someone who understands absolute polarity and the problems associated with obtaining it every time. It's not just the recording engineers who are at fault, but everyone in the chain, from the two recording standards of Sony and Ampex, to the companies that make the recording equipment with odd numbered gain stages, to the recording engineers who don't test for it when making the recording, to the mastering engineers, to the record or CD production plants, to the home audio equipment producers who produce odd numbered gain stage equipment to speaker manufacturers who use polarity inverting crossovers and drivers.
Acually I wish I had remained in blissfull ignorance about this polarity issue. Once you train yourself to hear the difference, it becomes a real pain in the arse top have to keep changing the polarity of the system, especially when you have 7 speakers and 4 subwoofers, all of which have to be changed over. But then, this is what the high end is all about. Trying to maximize our pleasure by producing the optimal reproduction of the sound at the microphone. Unhappily, one of the parameters for this is the absolute polarity, which may come in second only to proper frequency response of the system.
So for the blissfully ignorant, remain so and enjoy life. For the true high ender, get used to it.
