Doesn't that tell you something?"...and why it works." Well that's different. Do you know why a transistor works? If you play solid state, then maybe you should have checked that out before buying. Do you know how the Reed-Solomon encoding works? If you play CDs, then maybe you should have checked that out before buying.
But the real question is, why do you ask that question now, of a process that hundreds have testified to?
