Re: The DBT that proved all amplifiers sound DIFFERENT

"What about your recent revelation with preamps?"

The preamp in question was designed by a company which believes amplification suffered because old technology was discarded in place of newer technology which just so happened to be cheaper and less labour intensive than that it replaced; as you'll be aware yourself, pick up an Audio Note preamp and compare it to it's peers - invariably the Audio Note is twice as heavy due to the extensive use of transformers which went out of favour, as indeed did valves.

Audio Note seem to have picked up the dropped baton and carried the older technology further by a process of evolution and refinement rather than revolution, but in general modern amplification has not come on in the 'leaps and bounds' of source components in my humble opinion, not when a 20 year old power amp can still hold it's own in today's market.

Is there any 20 year old source component that could claim the same? :0)

I also use 20 year old power amps by the way. :0)
