Yes, but the recording already contains the ambience information for the acoustic space where the recording was made (unless it was recorded in an anechoic chamber). In an uncorrected listening room, the acoustic signature of your room is superimposed on the acoustic signature of the recording venue, which I am sure you will recognize as being a bad thing. Room correction is simply an attempt to prevent the acoustic characteristics of your room from swamping the ambience cues present in the recording.
