Geez!

The sum of a frequency response peak in a speaker range added to sum of a peak in the response of an amplifier may become more audible - but the sum of the peak in the speaker range + no peak in the amplifier range will be inaudible. With no speaker response aberration the difference between the amplifiers would go unheard.
