When audiophiles try to justify their mythologies and cannot cite electrical properties and their effect on the distortion of electrical signal waveforms, all that really matters, they often revert back to the physics which underlies the explanation of why certain materials and geometries give rise to certain electrical phenomena and it is invariably qualitative, not quantitative. This occurs for example when someone who cannot translate their claims into harmonic or intermodulation distortion begins to speak in realms of quantum physics such as Fermi Velocity and Strand Jumping, topics from the reading of their postings they know nothing about anyway. This is one of their ploys to obfuscate the real issue. Another is to introduce mostly other irrelavent issues such as susceptability to noise induction. No matter how you slice it, either a particular wire generates non linear distortion or it doesn't. This is distortion which cannot be compensated for later on. So far nobody has ever demonstrated that any audio wire does that. This leaves us with only linear distortion, the alteration of amplitude and phase frequency response, a type of distortion which can be compensated for using what boils down to an inverse filter or equalization circuit. Of course they reject this idea also dismissing the dozens of electrical filters audio signals inevitably pass through between the time they strike the microphone and the time they emerge from a loudspeaker. With no test data to demonstrate their claims and one illogical arguement after another, one can only assume that those advocates either have a financial stake in the arguement or have bought into it to the point where they have an emotional stake. On the one hand you have people who are making a buck out of this and on the other you have people who don't want to admit that they have been taken for suckers. It is therefore pointless to argue with them, they are not rational.
