Good points and very valid, BUT...

most all of this can be tested, measured and determined from spec's. That is, if the tests are properly conducted, all of the pertinent info shared AND properly interpreted. Several of the different points that you make actually boil down to the same problem i.e. they are side effects that are caused by the same principle design and operating flaws displaying themselves in different yet inter-related areas.

The fact that most manufacturers no longer give you enough pertinent info about the technical performance of the unit is why most spec's have become meaningless i.e. one can't properly interpret the information as all of the information isn't there that is required to do so. What is left is the equivalent of having to judge a "pretty decent" sports team based strictly on the win / lose record without being able to analyze specific strengths or weaknesses to see how / why those wins or losses occurred. Mostly guesswork with little value in the real world in terms of predicting results. Sean
