for the RP-440C

I purchased this speaker after a Stereophile review by Herb Reichart of a Klipsh Reference Premier RP600 stand mount speaker. I have been looking to improve overall response and intelligibility from my center speaker, and better integration with (non-Klipsch) Eqique CBT24 speakers.

I am please with the result. On its own the RP440C (which appears to have been superseded by the RP404C) is balanced and neutral. Its also quite sensitive, though I am driving it with an Emotiva RP-1 monobloc that has plenty of power. The Klipsch also has impressive sound-level and dynamic range capabilities, performing well from soft to loud, and not losing its composure. I find the speaker excellent for its reproduction of the human voice, but also seamless in its reproduction of music. Experiencing an AIX MLP 5.1 recording of piano trios by Haydn allowed me to "listen through" to the performers. with good imaging and natural tone.

I think Herb is right; these are good speakers. They could be outperformed, conceivably at a much higher price point, but I am rediscovering nuances in recordings I though I knew quite well. So, I am happy with this speaker, and grateful to Herb, too.

Product Weakness: Really none, though I suspect a contest with a much higher-priced center speaker would make evident ways in which some speakers are better than other.
Product Strengths: Neutral. Sensitivity. Dynamic range. Value for dollar!
