Ina way you're asking for the audio GOAT and I hesitate to name one having over 50 years of audiophilia with poor auditory memory like 99% of us. But I recently heard home grown speakers by a member of the New Jersey Audio Society developed over years by a designer with real technical background and audiophile experience of years. I have experienced some great systems and speakers.
All I can say is they were multi dynamic driver speakers with closed box bass and active crossover. And they blew me away. The dynamics, linear level changes were excellent. The bass was very tight, outdoing the best reflex speakers. The attack was superb. But most spectacular was the control of decay; you could hear the actual instruments die off. Did it sound life like? only occasionally but that's due to the soft ware not be recorded naturally. However there was a spectacular sense of aliveness.
I had only two wishes. I wish they were in production. And if they were I wish I could afford them.
