By the time I became an audiophile in 1986, Advent were in that "no-man's land," of not being mass market, yet, not being "high-end." One of my friends/schoolmates (well, his family) acquired some small floorstanding Advent (Prodigy, perhaps?) loudspeaker. One Friday after school, he and I went to his house, where we loved Peter Gabriel's "Red Rain" over those Advents.
His sister Yulie, exhausted from a long week at SF State, came home, dropped her stuff, kicked off her shoes and pants, plopped on the couch. Dead Or Alive's "Brand New Lover" and Robert Palmer's cover of "I Didn't Mean To Turn You On" fired her up. Satisfied, Yulie then zonked out on the couch!
I have no idea, which Bay Area stores, if any, carried Advent in those days. I'm sure that my friend's family had ordered the Advent from Crutchfield.
