My main speakers (dual 8") are ported, with 12" sub sealed. Perhaps it works better the other way. Sealed usually has slower bass rolloff and deeper extension, at the expense of pure output quantity and air movement of ported designs.
I may try plugging the ports on my mains and try ported subs, crossed over even lower.
I ordered two 10" ported subs the other day anyway. This was for my 2nd system, but they may work better in my main system.
