RE: Every time I listen, I compare to my live experiernces.

That's unfortunate. I don't try to compare music performances I've attended with the same music played through my stereo system, they are completely different experiences. I do have fond memories of music events I've attended but it's more about the people I was with and the performance of the musicians and their interaction with the crowd. (Orchestras not so much.) About the closest I get to comparisons are a few live albums that sound remarkably similar to the event. Still, it isn't the same and never will be. I think that's why I liked Jim Austin's perspective; each time I listen to an album (LP, CD, hi-res FLAC) it's a new experience, a new performance.
