Colouration vs neutrality at discomfort volume threshold

Say Dave likes playing loud but comfortable at 80db, but his ear's max pleasure tolerance for 10k is 82db and his 1k max pleasure tolerance is 78db. Surely neutral EQ to 80db is now an annoying experience for Dave, at 80db he wants to push for more brightness, but now 1k sounds even more intolerable.

Colouration has a use, and can resonate with your biology that colours the sound anyway. It would mean Dave can play at 80db and his 10k sounds rightfully bright and proud, but that hurtful 1k kept at bay at the same time.

Is this thinking right? Thanks.
